Austin's 5 year wellness check

HAHA  Yea I did say I would update frequently but honestly the thought of telling you all the fun and even mundane stuff we did in 2012 intimitaded me. . .so I'm starting from scratch.  Later on I will post a few pictures of Austin's 5 year birthday visit to Great Wolf Lodge, but right now I'm going to tell you about Austin's 5 year wellness visit.

I love these wellness visits - yes, even the ones that require vaccines - as it's confirmation that we are doing something right!  It doesn't matter if he's 2 months old, 2 years old or now FIVE, hearing from the nurse & doctor, who we ADORE, that we are all on the right track is music to my ears!!!

It's interesting to go to these appointments because it's no longer about the parent.  We are now just spectators watching the dialog between Austin and his nurse/Dr.  It makes me smile that he's now an independent, growing lil boy answering all sorts of questions on his own.

Here are his stats:

Height: 43 1/8 in (50%) -- staying steady there
Weight: 37.8 lbs (10$%) -- again staying steady on his growth chart

It's funny.  Before he was walking, he was 90th in weight and 10% in height and I'd joke that he was round and short.  Now he's tall and lanky!

He passed his eye chart and both eyes are 20/30.  Blood pressure: 88/58 with a pulse of 92.

He doesn't get an more immunizations until he's 12, so Austin was excited to hear about that.  HaHa

You still there?

Hi Everyone!  Is anyone still around?

I'm so embarrased that I haven't written/updated our family blog in over a YEAR!  (I just realized it's been a year to the day!)  It is a pathetic excuse to use that we've been busy, but we have.   Although, who isn't!?!  I keep thinking about the family blog yet never take the time to get on here to write because I'm so far behind in posts, so I don't.

Honestly, the main reason I love blogging is so that I can go back and look on what our family did over the years, but the cliche of "life got in the way" did in fact. .  get in the way.

That is going to stop now.

I love clicking through the years and seeing all of our family activities and Austin growing up, so in the next couple of days, I will do a quick snapshot of 2012.  Then I'll hope to keep everyone updated on our lives.

First time at Putt-Putt Golf!

Sometime in December, Scott and I took Austin to Putt-Putt for his first time.  At the last minute, I was able to score an online coupon for a BYGO free  of golf (Austin was already free) + $10 worth of game tokens   CAN YOU SAY WHOOO HOOOOO!!!!

Austin was a natural and caught on quickly.  He was pretty good - better than me, although that's not really saying a lot LOL!!

Hole in one!!
Stinker!  Blocking the hole so Daddy can't get his ball in.  Austin catches on early!  LOL
18th hole
He loves the grab the ball from the hole after he sunk it in. . . Although. . .
WHAT?!?!  Where'd it go!?!?!
HaHaHa  Had to explain that at the 18th hole, it goes down a pipe for the staff to keep.  The look on his face was awesome!

Game time.  Notice where his ball went.  Guess we need more practice :-)
Austin being his eyes & ears while Daddy drives his race car!
TICKETS!!
Grabbing some goodies with our tickets

Bowling at Putt-Putt Golf. . .?? Sure!

Christmas 2011

On Christmas Eve, we headed over to my parents for our annual family gathering.  We ate, drank and had a great time together.  I love that we are close enough and are able to have Christmases (and all other holidays for that matter) together!  Here are a few pictures of that night.

Mom thought she was funny.  Austin opened up a Yankees Ball/Bat set and my dad opened up a Rangers ball/bat set.  Needless to say, they QUICKLY switched.  Austin was happy with the switch too saying, "Boo Yankees!"
Carolyn & Trista!
This photo cracks me up!  Not sure what they were doing but it was hilarious.  Trista, I think, thinks all boys are silly!
COUSINS!!
Trevor (2), Austin (3.5), Trista (3.5 - although four days shy of turning 4!)
Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree!!

After we drove back home, Austin set out some goodies for Santa Claus and his reindeer!
Homeade cookies
Carrots!
Milk
So proud of himself!  I'm sure Santa and his 8 reindeer were VERY thankful!!

XOXOXO

CHRISTMAS MORNING! V-e-r-y early morning -- SANTA CLAUS came!!
The goodies he left behind for Austin
Yup, he was VERY appreciative of the cookies, milk and carrots for his Reindeer!
Austin walking in. . . still groggy from sleep.  Slightly confused. . .
Went Straight to the Baseball guys!  Santa did a great job!!
Austin was very excited Santa brought him chocolate and twizzlers!
A REAL baseball glove for when he starts T-Ball this spring. He is already pretty good at catching the ball - now with this he's able to grab it better
Green Lantern!
His Christmas Morning Loot!
Overall, I'd say it was a very merry Christmas!

Elfie's Adventure: Day 30!

This is Elfie's last night flying to the North Pole alone. . .  Yes, he flys back with all his elf friends every night, but tomorrow night he'll get to ride alongside the Big Man himself, Santa Claus!!

Look at what Elfie did on his last night here with us.

Caught hanging from the mirror with his marker!
Uh Oh!  Elfie wanted Austin to look just like Rudolf!

We sure are going to miss him.  It has been fun to anticipate where Elfie will be next and watching Austin talk to, and about, Elfie is magical!  Merry Christmas, Elfie!  We hope you have a great year and we will see you again next year.

Elfie: Day 29

Thank goodness Elfie is an elf of many talents!  Fixing Austin (& daddy's) motorcycle!

Elfie: Day 28

Another playdate? Not sure if they are about to race or what?!  My bet is on Elfie!
